2009:  Started New Zealand's first two games against Spain and South Africa at the FIFA Confederations Cup.

2008: Joined Port Vale in January 2008 on a free transfer. In July, Mulligan signed a two-year deal with Wellington Phoenix.

2007: Club commitments kept Mulligan out of the 4-0 loss to Costa Rica but Mulligan played the full 90 in the 5-0 loss to Venezuela. Unavailable for the 2-2 draw in Wales after helping Scunthorpe United clinch promotion to the English Championship. Left on the bench for a World Cup qualifier against Vanutau in Port Vila but responded by scoring an injury-time winner (his first international goal) in a crucial 2-1 victory. Four days later, Mulligan scored twice against the same opposition in Wellington in a 4-1 win.

2006: David Mulligan has quickly established himself as a regular All Whites starter, either in central midfield or as an attack-minded fullback. The former Barnsley and Doncaster Rovers player, a dead ball specialist, has helped Scunthorpe United capture the English League One title and promotion to the Championship for the next northern hemisphere season.
