2009: Came off the bench against South Africa in the FIFA Confederations Cup and started a pre-tournament friendly against Botswana.
2008: Started both World Cup qualifiers against New Caledonia.
2007: Oughton was recalled for the 2-2 draw against Wales in Wrexham after last playing for the All Whites at the ill-fated 2004 Oceania Nations Cup in Adelaide. Played the full 90 in central midfield against world No 75 Wales after overcoming a serious knee injury which curtailed his 2006 MLS season in the United States. Started all three World Cup qualifiers (Fiji and Vanuatu x2) in 2007.
